About Us
Trojan Asphalt is a Brighton based family run flat roofing company with over 40 years experience in the business. We specialise in Mastic asphalt flat roofing & built up felt roofing systems. Covering Sussex, London & the South East of England we offer a high standard of workmanship & take pride in every job we undertake.
A bit of history
Our proprietor Richard Mears started his mastic asphalt apprenticeship in 1964 at the age of 16 working with his uncle Angelo Damario for Chartives Asphalt. Then in 1966 he joined Briggs Amasco one of the biggest mastic asphalt companies in the world, working on some the largest contracts throughout Sussex and the South East such as the original Churchill Square development, Sussex University & Portsmouth docks.
In 1977 he started his own mastic asphalt roofing business taking on contracts such as the Royal Pavilion Brighton, the platforms at Brighton Station, Arundel castle and many other major contracts. In the early 90's he was joined by his two sons Daniel & Thomas who were fully trained in mastic asphalt and built up flat roofing. As a close family roofing business we continue provide a high quality of workmanship and service in every roofing contract we undertake.
In 2014 it will be Richard's 50th year in the flat roofing industry.

Built up Felt roofing
Built up bituminous membranes are probably the most economic and common form of roof covering material for domestic flat roofs. They can be used on timber, metal and concrete decks.
Trojan Asphalt offers these built up felt roofing services:
• High performance Torch-on membranes
• Traditional ‘pour and roll' method of bituminous flat roofing
• Fire proof felt roofing systems

Associated Lead Work
We will supply & install all associated lead work such as cover flashings to complete a roof leaving it 100 % water tight.
