When the washing machine is not used for a few days, it's quite common for the drum to smell mustyand unpleasant, this is often made worse these days as we are told to always do low temperature washes. If you have this problem, it's a good idea to give the machine a clean through with washing soda crystals. Get an old towel to put in the drum, select a 60 degree wash, put a cup full of soda crystals in the drum with the towel, and let it go through the cycle, if you do this 3 or 4 times a year it will help keep the machine clean inside and free from smells.
