Sussex Vocal Academy

Sussex Vocal Academy was founded in 2004 by Lucinda Bristow. From starting with a small teaching practice only teaching one to one lessons in the Worthing, SVA has flourished with tutors now teaching at schools throughout the county and with practices now running in Brighton, Chichester, Horsham and Hove. SVA's tutors firmly believe that the academy is such a success because they not only help students progress as singers technically, but also work on building confidence and perfecting performance techniques, whilst making the experience fun at the same time. Many students who feel confident enough gain the valuable experience of taking part in performances in front of live audiences and some also have the opportunity to record demo CD's in local recording studios which can either go towards their portfolios or just to keep. All of these extras are organised by staff at SVA. Staff also encourage students to collaborate with local musicians so they gain the experience of singing with live instruments and help guide singers that are already in bands improve their vocals skills. SVA welcome students of all ages and abilities - anybody can improve their vocal skills with the right guidance and practice. The tutors at the academy are professional musicians who currently work in the industry and can therefore guide and support any students looking to possibly make a career out of their talent. Every new student will be invited to have a free 30 min consultation to make sure they want to go ahead with lessons, find out exactly what's involved and meet their tutor. During the consultation the tutor can work out exactly what it is the student wants to gain from lessons. The tutor can then plan lessons to best suit each individual student.

Lucinda Bristow is the founder of Sussex Vocal Academy and for the past 4 yrs has been teaching full-time in schools and privately around the Sussex area after graduating from BIMM with a BTEC Professional Development Certificate in Modern Commercial Music and a Higher Diploma in Modern Music. Lucinda is very bubbly and easy to get on with, she is a hardworking person so has taken on the opportunity and thrived on the challenge to work with people of all ages and abilities to develop their skill
