This shop you get what you'r looking for, you get the customer service, you get a bit of fun banter and most of all it's local and you get it all for a decent price. Steve (upstairs) is a top bloke....I have never met this guy before, i went into buy a helmet and to ensure i was leaving happy and WITH THE CORRECT ONE, he made me wear the helmet for a solid ten minutes in the shop, then checked for any marks, now tell me you get this with buying online....YOU DONT!
I have read mixed reviews of Bikes of Brighton on the web, but can only speak to my own experiences... In the 12 years since I stormed out of the old Brighton P&H, incredulous at the incompetence and downright rudeness of the pre-pubescent teenager who was trying to sell me a lid; only to be directed towards BoB by a biker at a red light; I have been a regular if infrequent customer. With each new girlfriend (or now wife) came more bike gear... Over the years I have bought gear for myself and my partners (the last visit being yesterday) and visited with countless friends and colleagues. Bike clothing is rather more important than trick indicators and a small number plate - Steve Conway at BoB is the only man I trust or would recommend. He fits an amazing selection of gear into the first floor of the shop - a veritable Aladdin's cave... Steve will always take the time to advise you on the right gear and has an uncanny knack of sizing by eye.
There are a number of mixed reviews here and I can only add my honest opinion. I've used Bikes of Brighton since I moved to here. They've helped me with parts for every different bike I've brought in. Especially when my supermoto ate its magneto outside the shop. They kept it there as I didn't have a garage. Wheeled it out and back in every day for 2 weeks while waiting for the replacement and didn't charge me a penny. When I need kit, I know from previous accidents that decent stuff is very important and having someone take the time to fit it properly is a great service I haven't had elsewhere. Even if it means it doesn't fit and I walk away having not bought anything. I have never felt pressured into a sale and when I do buy, I go away knowing it fits, EXACTLY how it works, and the best way to care for it. That's why I buy my kit there. This shop is the best example of a local bike shop you can get. They live and breath bikes and give a fantastic service in a city that is so short of decent bike shops. No bike shop in the world gets it right every time but Bikes gets it right so many more times and at reasonable prices that main dealers and internet companies don't. I've just bought a new lid there at a better price than internet sites, and had tyres fitted in 48 hours after popping in which my main dealer said would take 2 weeks! - That's why I will be back again.
Three good reasons for riding and the same good reasons for using Bikes Of Brighton. Been in for all my kit, repairs and parts and the guys at Bikes have been fantastic. This is a real bike shop. The advice is good, the workmanship was great, and the convenience of their location means I'll be back. Clocking up long miles each week, so I'm sure I'll be back in on a regular basis but for all the right reasons!
hi there i have bought all of my bike gear from bikes i have always found them to be helpful and courteous i would recomend this shop to anybody who is interested in biking on a whole great stuff keep up the good work fellas
I only found out about Bikes of Brighton several months ago, but since I did I have been a regular visitor even just to get a bit of advice whether it was from Steve about the lids and clothes or James about exhausts. A month ago I went in to look at getting a new set of leathers. I was offered an awesome discount and told that even though I didn't have the money right then they would keep the price for me until I had the dosh. Every time I have bought something from them I have been given all the advice I needed with great discounts. Obviously these guys are running a business and its their job to sell their stuff. Only a fool would go into a shop and expect the owner not to push their own products. They have never forced their products on me and even suggested other shops that sell stuff they don't. They only offer the products they can with any personal and professional advice they have. Also for any first time bikers looking to start, this is a great shop. If people think it is expensive then they should visit some of the other bike shops in East Sussex as they are in for a price shock.
After hearing about other people reviewing bikes of brighton i thought id better get my bit in their too! This realy is the one bike shop you need to go to! fantastic customer service, brilliant knowledge and always their to help you out! I have been going to bikes for 7 years now with various different bikes and they have never let me down! clothing wise LEDGENDS! no horrible sales pitches, no one pushing you to buy something you dont need or want! just pure good honest advice knowledge and service. I would reccommend bikes to anyone!
Dont rush in to buy a helmet since they will always insist on measuring you up and making the one they sell you fits. At time more like a social club with bikers calling in for a chat or to update gear. No budget stuff here but good quality at ok prices
gave what i asked for and a bit more.customer service second to none.you get what you pay for.i have been a very infrequent customer for years and find the staff very helpfull.if its quality gear you want they will supply it to you if you want to buy cheap kit go somewhere else buy their kit and take it back when you want to tell them its falling to bits after short usage.no i dont work them just a customer apppreciating very good service and letting all know about it. 10 stars in my book .thank you BIKES OF BRIGHTON for being there
I went in looking for some kit before doing my direct access, specifically boots. I explained to the 'helpful' chap what I was after, why, and what my budget was. This information was ignored and I was offered a discount on a full 1 piece leather suit! Does anybody need a 1 piece leather suit to do their test?! I'm doubtful. After explaining (again) that I was only looking for boots (nothing fancy, just water proof and offering a decent level of protection) I was directed away from the boots that I was interested in and pointed towards boots approximately twice my budget with features such as toe sliders - again, probably not necessary for doing my test. Needless to say that I left soon after the 'can you really put a price on your own safety' speech - I know this is true but I have a budget, bike gear is expensive and unfortunately I'm not rich. Further to this I didn't want to spend a fortune on all this gear if I didn't pass my test. I needed something fit for purpose and that purpose was not track day racing. In the end I got the boots I was originally interested in from an online shop, they are waterproof, offer good protection and were about half the price of the same ones in the shop. I don't think I'll be going back.
