Our new shop, opened as part of our 180th Year of Trug Making Celebrations, opened in July and has proven very popular with visitors to the Alfriston area.  One couple had seen the information about our new shop and decided to visit us all the way from Winchester in Hampshire!  Now that's keen!  You can be sure of a warm welcome when you come to see us.

 Other traders in Alfriston have also been steering their customers our way.  Badgers Tea Room in North Street, Alfriston use our small Trugs to hold their cakes and scones for serving to table and many people ask them where they can be obtained.   Thanks to all those traders who are supporting us.

 Visitors are welcome at the new shop Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5pm.  The shop is closed on Sundays and most bank holidays.  Come and buy a new Trug and we might also let you have a look into our workshops in the flint barn.

Thomas Smith's have opened a new retail shop as part of their 180th Year Celebrations!  The new shop is at Berwick Court Farm right next to Drusilla's Zoo at Alfriston in East Sussex.  It will be open from Monday - Saturday from 8.30am to 1pm and 2pm - 5pm  Visit us there and see our wonderful display of Trugs, many of which you will see nowhere else!  Come and see the real Trugs! Yes, the Thomas Smith part of our company was started by Thomas himself in 1829 and he made the Sussex Trug famous by selling some to Queen Victoria at The Great Exhibition held in the Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, London, England in 1851.  Her Majesty so liked Smith's Trugs that she personally ordered some for members of the Royal Family.  Since then we have sold the Royual Sussex Traditional Trug to Prince Charles' Highgrove House shop and our South Down Modern Trugs to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in Windsor Great Park.

 Other famous people who have purchased one of our Trugs in recentl years are Meryl Streep and Katherine Deneuve.

Rob, Neil and Chris hand make every single Trug in our own workshops in the Sussex countryside and export them all over the World.
