i am now in my third year at "riverside" boat yard, and would like to say what a pleasure it is mooring there. not having a great deal of funds when i purchased my first boat, i was looking for a no thrills mooring site, and was very pleased to come across this one. it was my intention to move to a bigger, dare i say posher "marina" when i could afford to do so, but not anymore. here i have electricity, water, and lots of friendly advice, within the space of three pontoons, i can have a conversation with fishermen, barristers, policeman, and construction workers, and more importantly they are mostly experienced boaters, only too willing to give advice and share their experience for free. the office staff always contact me by text or phone if there are any issues with my boat, which is brilliant. with the sussex yacht club next door, and two fishing clubs at "riverside" it all adds up to a great friendly enviornment. i would also like to thank the owners and staff at "riverside" for all the donations to the numerous local charities that they support. i look forward to many more years at a great local community boat yard, a boat chandlers, two pubs, and a restuarant. within 50 metres. all moorings covered by cctv. cant be bad. cheers all. alan.

  • 4 Satisfied Customer

We have been mooring our boat at Riverside Yard for about 10 years now. As Mary H stated there are no toilet/washing facilities unless you are a member of the SYC, then you are entitled to use thiers. I think the clue is in the name, it is a reasonable place to moor your boat, not a 'Marina' which would come with such facilities and a much higher cost. We are more than satisfied with the service we get for the mooring fees we pay.

  • 1 Rude

I live in the local area and phoned Riverside Yard to ask if someone could could clean up the mess that had accumulated after a rare hot weekend (I have two young children and I want them to have a safe, clean and tidy local environment). So rude! The lady there called me a whinger, denied knowledge of any problem and put the phone down on me! Based on that experience, I would moor elsewhere....

  • 1 Warning: Southwick Riverside Yard Marina

“Whatever you do, try to avoid Southwick Riverside Yard Marina” is what I wish someone had said to us before we moored there. It has been a nightmare for us, we had a most nasty experience in that marina, which has cost us time, money and the use of our boat. In our experience the marine had no proper administration or any proper organisation and it’s dirty with no toilet or washing facilities. People living permanently on the boats with minimum services. The electricity and water service does not reach many boats, the office was rarely open and phone was rarely answered. In our experience they were extremely rude, unprofessional and run the business by bullying us their customers. Dealing with them has been a real nightmare. We had the option of mooring at a different marina but we chose them because we did not know how rude they were or how badly we would be treated. I wish someone had warned us about this before we went there. Afterwards we found out that they had a reputation for mistreating people. If we had known we would have made sure not to get stuck there, especially in high season.
