Dog friendly, historic cafe set right on the beach front in Ferring.Once you have found your way round the maze of narrow roads in Ferring you will eventually find a large car park (which doubles as a swimming pool after heavy rainfall).Inside and outside tables are available for your breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea (roast on a Sunday).Fairly decent selection including some nice looking cakes. Service was prompt. Portions could have been more generous given the price. The lamb was a bit hit and miss.Similar to the Sea Lane Cafe up the road but not quite as good.Open 8-5 (later during the summer season).

We visited today for morning coffee and I must agree with the previous review, wait for rain and the approach road could be used as an Army vehicle trials course ! It also doubles as a (free) car park with the full potential to be used as a loose shingle, stoney floored open air unheated swimming pool !!As said previously, the cafe is located at the end of a maze-like series of (mainly) bungalow lined narrow lanes dating from the late twenties / early thirties period. No street lighting appears to exist and there are very few road markings that makes this small residential area an ideal location for a Miss Marple story !The cafe itself is something of a mixture in the decorative and furnishing sense. Modern double glazing, very modern kitchen area with an up-to-date dining area in a building that's not much different to its 1920s origins. However, it still appears to have its original furniture ! The gouge marks in the wood and thin varnish are obviously intended to add provenance !Menu, very wide and a little hefty on the price front but many dishes are advertised as home-made so perhaps prices can be justified. However, it's about 20 years at least since I last saw dogs in a public dining area whilst people were eating! Make of that what you will. We like dogs and food but not quite that close together at the same time ! !Tourists, having achieved a miracle in navigation without the use of sattelites, wet suit, snorkel and high-lift suspension on your car, this unique little cafe is located on a fairly remote and quiet part of the seafront. Dog walkers, you've just arrived in a canine playground for our furry friends with beach and footpaths through large open spaces.Car, motorcycling, cycling club members, if you're thinking of organising a motoring quiz with a 'comfort-stop' on the South Coast, this is worth consideration. Only the very best of your members will find it !Website - http://www.ferringvillage.co.uk/business-directory/bluebird-cafe.htmNB. There is a warning regarding tidal under-currents so please read the notices for your own and others safety.
